Description
Remember to pause (Wairua)
Have you noticed the terminology we use when we discuss weekends or holidays? One in particular, “recharging”, is jarring in the parallels it draws between people and machinery. Are we, like our electric toothbrushes, anchored at our charging docks when we are not at work, volunteering, or looking after our household?
Remembering to pause, and making this part of our wellbeing kete of skills, can help to nudge us gently towards better wellbeing.
Objectives
Course objectives:
- Be introduced to what we call our "obsession with productivity"
- Learn about key research, including the difference between instrumental and terminal leisure activities
- Understand how to put "pauses" into action to strengthen hauora wairua
- Complete a final knowledge check

Hi Team, I'm just concerned about the term 'terminal leisure' in this context/module, as terminal is mostly associated with end of life, or final phase of life. I'm thinking 'intrinsic' leisure might be more appropriate term in this case, when compared with the extrinsic or instrumental nature of leisure. I hope this observation is helpful.
awesome course
